Note: This Privacy Policy applies to the GNibox Scanner mobile app for iPhone and iPad. It does not cover our website (Website Privacy Policy) or the GNibox design platform (Platform Privacy Policy).
At GNi Design and Planning Technologies Ltd. ("GNi," "we," "us," or "our"), we built GNibox Scanner to capture room scans on your device and export them for use in GNibox. We designed the app to keep your scan data on your device unless you choose to share it.
Privacy at a glance
.gniscan file using the iOS share sheet (for example, AirDrop, email, or Files).GNibox Scanner uses Apple's RoomPlan technology and your device's camera and LiDAR sensor to create a 3D scan of a room. The app saves the scan on your device and lets you preview it and export a signed .gniscan bundle for import into GNibox Platform or other compatible tools.
Room scanning requires a LiDAR-equipped iPhone Pro or iPad Pro running iOS 17 or later.
When you use GNibox Scanner, the following information is created and stored locally on your device:
This data is stored in the app's private storage area on your device (under the app's Documents folder). We do not transmit this information to GNi or any third party automatically.
GNibox Scanner requests access to the following device features:
You can revoke camera access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera on your device. Without camera access, the app cannot perform room scans.
Because scan data stays on your device, GNi does not use your room scans for our own purposes unless you separately upload or import them into GNibox Platform or contact us with that data.
On your device, the app uses scan data only to:
.gniscan export files when you choose to share themExport files include a cryptographic signature (SHA-256 and HMAC) so recipients can verify file integrity. This processing happens entirely on your device.
When you tap Share, the app creates a .gniscan file and opens the standard iOS share sheet. You choose where the file goes — for example, AirDrop, Mail, Messages, iCloud Drive, or another app.
Once you share a scan:
We do not control how third-party apps or services handle files you choose to share with them.
Through the GNibox Scanner app, we do not:
GNibox Scanner relies on Apple system frameworks, including RoomPlan, ARKit, and CryptoKit. These frameworks run on your device as part of iOS. Apple's handling of data through its operating system and services is governed by Apple's privacy policies.
The app includes a link to our website (gnibox.com). If you open that link, your browser or Safari may share standard web connection data with our website as described in our Website Privacy Policy.
Distribution of the app through the App Store is subject to Apple's terms and privacy practices.
Scans remain on your device until you delete them. You can remove individual scans from the Recent Scans list in the app, or delete all app data by removing GNibox Scanner from your device.
Uninstalling the app permanently deletes locally stored scans unless you have exported copies elsewhere.
We do not retain copies of your scans on our servers through the app itself.
Scan data is protected by your device's operating system, including device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID if you use them. Exported .gniscan files include integrity signatures to help detect tampering after export.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for choosing trusted destinations when sharing export files.
GNibox Scanner is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. If you believe a child has shared personal information with us, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Because we do not collect personal information through the app, most data-related requests can be handled directly on your device:
Depending on your location, you may have additional privacy rights under applicable law. To exercise them, contact us using the details below.
GNibox Scanner is developed by GNi Design and Planning Technologies Ltd. Because the app does not send scan data to our servers, cross-border data transfers by GNi through the app itself generally do not occur unless you separately submit data to our platform or contact us.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or applicable laws. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be noted in App Store release notes.
Your continued use of GNibox Scanner after an update means you accept the revised policy.

If you are located in the European Union, you may have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because GNibox Scanner does not collect personal data on our servers, many GDPR requests relate to data you control on your device or data you separately submit to GNibox Platform.
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We do not sell personal information, and the app does not collect personal information for our own use. If you import scan data into GNibox Platform, the Platform Privacy Policy applies to that data.
GNibox Scanner is designed to keep your room scans on your device until you decide to share them.
